Thanks to everyone for their help. I do have another question though. Just fired up my new desktop PC that came with Windows I found what I thought was the driver for this printer and downloaded it. However, when I try to install it, a box at the bottom of the screen pops up saying its “Installing” but winds up in a continues loop where the blue bar graph goes from left to right endlessly.
Plus I can’t find the printer listed in the printer box when I hit the print button. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. That led to other problems! When it rebooted, I went to log into the account that we had been using, but the agent stopped me. I had problems logging into the admin account, but, when I managed, was hit by Windows 10 configuration and update dialogues.
Some minutes later, I was in, but the link etc had been stored in the other account! I had to access that using admin privileges etc. Found the link and used it. Was connected to a different agent. Had to tell him the problem and what had been done. That did not stop him repeating the first agents actions.
When that had failed a number of times he backed up the registry and started deleting keys, then installer scripts, then tmp files etc. Another reboot and another installation failure and so it went on.
Finally the agent admitted defeat, “I have tried all trouble shooting steps, but still unable to do. I shall provide you a link please use it. They shall surely help you with the issue. So I was back here at midnight looking for answers. Nothing helpful found, but I did find a hint which I followed up on Google. The hint suggested that the compatibility settings may provide an answer.
I used the standard installation, not wanting to spend potentially nugatory time in customising if it was going to fail again. That may have been a factor. I’m going to take another restore point before dealing with that. Hope that this helps. I actually got help from tech support to find and download the installation files for MS Office Plus,.
